An early morning fire destroyed a one and a half story home on West Bacon St in Plainville 10-24-09. Plainville Fire Department received a call around seven o'clock for a fire in the area of Heather Hill golf course. En route to the fire the first responding engine reported seeing smoke from a distance away. Upon arrival the first company found heavy fire in the rear of the 20x30 cape style structure. The fire appears to have started in an attached garage before quickly moving into the main structure and the roof area. Firefighters were able to quickly search the home, which is occupied, but found no one. Due to intense heat, smoke and the quickly moving fire firefighters were forced to attack the fire from the exterior of the home. It was determined that the occupant of the home has been out of town for a few months, no injures reported. Firefighters are still on scene at press time, and the fire is under investigation. All photos are for sale. The prices are as follows, 5x7 $10, 8x10 $20, 11x14 $30, and 16x20 $45. Other sizes can be available.
